I'm not sure if this is really a rant, but I guess it's more so a realization? DeviantArt just seems so saturated nowadays. I still feel like I'm at the same place as when I first started taking art seriously which was around a year ago. I have a small amount of watchers and have of them are sort of inactive, and I don't necessarily want watchers for the sake of popularity, but for the sake of community and talking with other like-minded artists about improving and what-not. I feel like I just took Deviantart seriously way too late into its lifecycle. You either have to be REALLY good to get people to talk to you, or have something that appeals to a certain fandom/community which I feel like I have neither.
I've been trying to find a group of artists here who are into concept art, Illustration, design, etc. but as much as I've been searching the forums it's just been RP Groups, Fandom Groups, etc. Most of the concept art heads are already busy in the industry or studying so I haven't had too much luck with that either.
I guess my question to you all is: Are there any new art websites that are new and increasing in popularity, or more importantly, are there active art websites dedicated to "gitting gud" and getting into the professional art industry? I've been perusing a few just to get a sense of something different.
Don't be alarmed though, I'm not leaving for good or anything, and the friends I've met here are really awesome and I wouldn't even think of leaving them in the dirt. I'll still always upload here like the silly Stockholm Syndrome victim I am. But I've just been looking at the progress I've made in the year or two I started taking art seriously and goddamn...I just feel like it's pitiful... :/

TL;DR : Are there any new or active art websites dedicated to "gitting gud" with a focus on concept art, illustration, etc.? I'll still upload to DA, just not proud of the progress I've made here in 2 years and feel like it's too late or oversaturated to make a mark on DA.

If you're into thread-type sites, you'll find active communities for serious artists looking to improve in places like permanoobs, the cubebrush forums, or the sycra forums. :] I've signed up for stuff like this before but I don't really like the format haha. Check them out tho, maybe they're for you.

permanoobs.org/index.php
forums.cubebrush.co/
forum.sycra.net/forum/

You can also try reddit I think :]
